Que Lastima

TemperedtantrumsLake Worth is a quirky little town just outside of West Palm Beach. It’s an eclectic borough whose visage is reminiscent of Key West and countless other sleepy, seaside towns. However, for such a small community, the arts scene is extremely strong. Do you like punk rock? They’ve got it! Are you into hip hop? They’ve got some of the best! Gypsy punk is more your bag? Not a problem, what-so-ever. So, it’s no surprise that a band like Que Lastima would emerge from the fertile arts soup festering in the heat of the South Florida sun.

The band consider themselves, “Dumpster Swing,” that is a pastiche of soul, punk, and swing music, with a healthy dose of roots and bad intentions. The band seems perfectly comfortable mixing gothic Americana and punk attitude an amalgamation that would make Tom Waits, King Dude, and Duane Peters proud to be bellied up to the same bar, swilling booze, chain smoking, and lamenting the loss of cold women on hot days. Paultergeist, the master of ceremonies of this motley ensemble, started the group after leaving his last musical incarnation, Viva Le Vox. He sent out a call for like minded miscreants into the ether and Que Lastima was conjured.

The release party will feature Que Lastima, joined by the Zoo Peculiar, who are described as “circus music from outer space,” as well as Sunnyvale, Delray Beach’s “Alternacrunkcore” quartet, and the Hillside Spirit Revival, an Americana Indie Folk band, which, if any of these band descriptions are even remotely accurate, should prove to be an extremely interesting show- all brought to you by Aces High Tattoos, another staple of the community, in the small but extremely fruitful scene. Aces High regularly hosts a music fest that draws on the best of the best in the Lake Worth/ West Palm music scene. So, they know a thing or two about quality content in a crowded sea of talent. Come out, get weird, get drunk and be ready to dance to the best dumpster swing, outer space circus music, Alternacrunkcore, and Americana indie folk that Palm Beach has to offer.

The record release for Que Lastima’s second full length album, “Tempered Tantrums.” is Saturday, May 21st at Propaganda, 6 South J Street, Lake Worth, Florida, 33460. Doors are at 8pm and $10 gets you in the door, and a copy of “Tempered Tantrums.” RSVP
